Charles River Running — where community comes first
In 2012, Charles River Running opened its doors in Norwood Center. Owner Charlotte Walsh wanted her store to be a hub for all walkers & runners, complete with the very best in shoes, shoe-fitting, apparel & accessories. What she discovered along the way, is that her customers came to Charles River Running for more than just expert shoe fitting. They came for the community, connection & for the value of shopping where they live & work. Buying local is second nature for the customers of Charles River Running & Walsh does her best to give back to the community that keeps her doors open season after season.
Registration is now open for the 2026 January Move Streak
Are you ready to jump start 2026 with a challenge? It’s time to register for our annual January Move Streak. Pledge to move (walk or run) at least one mile each day (inside or out) for the month of January. We’ll have a friendly Strava group where we can log our miles, a weekly email to keep you on track and a meetup at the end of the month to celebrate our collective awesomeness. We hope that you can join us!
We Recycle Your Shoes
Is your closet cluttered with worn-out kicks? Just tie the laces together and drop them off at Charles River Running. We’ll gladly send them to Sneaker Impact, who will give your shoes a new life in a developing country. Look for the large donation box in the back of the store and toss them in — it’s an easy way to help others and clear some space at home.
Shoe Fittings
Want to guarantee a seat on our fitting bench? Make an appointment for a 30 minute shoe fitting with us. Please be sure to bring your current running or walking shoes with you as we will want to check out your wear pattern. We will supply clean socks for you to use while trying on shoes. Also, make sure to wear comfortable clothing as you may want to hop on our store treadmill or take a loop around the block. Just click on the button below and choose a time that works best for you.
Thursday Strong
Yes, YOU can join a running group. Meet Thursday Strong; part run club, part social club, always 100% YOUR club. We’re a group of runners & walkers that are young & old-ish, slow & fast-ish male & female, who come together every Thursday rain or shine.
